Junior Life Safety/Fire Protection Engineer
Avid Engineers is a fast-growing MEP/FP engineering firm specializing in complex, high-quality projects across commercial, institutional, and mixed-use sectors. We pride ourselves on collaborative project teams, strong mentorship, and long-term career development. As our Life Safety team continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated Junior Life Safety Engineer to join our team.
This role is ideal for an engineer early in their career who is interested in Fire Protection & Fire Alarm systems and eager to learn through hands-on project experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering Support
- Assist in the design and layout of fire protection systems (sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps) and fire alarm systems for various building types.
- Support preparation of life safety and code compliance drawings, diagrams, and narratives.
- Perform or assist with hydraulic calculations, and equipment sizing.
- Develop drawings, details, and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD.
Codes & Compliance
- Review and interpret applicable building and fire codes, including NFPA standards and local amendments.
Project Coordination & Documentation
- Participate in coordination with internal MEP disciplines and external consultants.
- Assist with submittal reviews, RFIs, and construction administration tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 2 – 7 years of experience in life safety, fire protection, fire alarm design, or related AEC roles.
- Working knowledge of Revit & AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with fire and life safety codes (NFPA, IBC, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a collaborative team environment.

Pay:
- DOE (Depending on Experience)
- From $85,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person - Boston or Lowell (Massachusetts)
